If you want clear skin, it is critical that you keep it clean. When it comes to your daily skin care routine, cleansing your skin is the first step you will take.
There are four rules that you need to know and abide by to keep your skin fresh and clean every day.
1. Cleansing Your Skin is Not Based on Gender
This is important to note because both men and women need to properly cleanse their skin both day and night.
Just because men do not typically wear makeup does not mean that they can skip washing their face. Men are still exposed to the same environmental pollutants, oils, dirt and other impurities that women are exposed to.
Because of this, both men and women need to take a few minutes in the morning and in the evening to properly cleanse their skin.
2. You Must Always Cleanse Your Skin at Night
There are certainly nights where you are exhausted and you are tempted to skip your evening skin care routine, but it is important that you take a couple of minutes and get it done.
Even if you need to crawl to the bathroom, take five minutes to remove your makeup, cleanse your skin and apply a good moisturiser.
Sleeping in your makeup and the other impurities of the day put you at risk for breakouts because it can clog your pores. This can also leave your skin dull and encourage the growth of bacteria on your skin.
3. Wash Your Skin in the Morning Too
Many people wash their face well at night and think that this makes it okay to not wash up in the morning.
However, you use different products at night and your skin repairs itself as you sleep. You want to wash all of this away in the morning so that you can start with a clean canvas for the day. You may also sweat when you sleep and oils can coat your skin, both of which can increase your risk for clogged pores and subsequent breakouts.
Washing your face in the morning also helps to ensure that your daytime products are able to penetrate the skin and work at an optimal level.
4. Make Sure You Are Using a Cleanser for Your Skin Type
This is very important because different skin types have different needs.
A product for oily skin is not going to properly work for dry skin and vice versa. In fact, using a cleanser that is not meant for your skin type can actually do more harm than good in some instances.
You want a cleanser that will help to keep your skin hydrated while still being able to remove impurities and excess oils. This will give your skin the right balance. This ensures that your skin does not produce too much oil and that is does not get dried out due to your skin care routine.
When you are good to your skin, you can be confident that your skin will be good to you.
