Is the Atheno Skin trial offer a scam? Our review reveals all

Is the Atheno Skin trial offer a scam? Our review reveals all

According to their website, Atheno Skin is “your secret to younger and healthier looking skin”.

How does this product work, and is it as effective as it is claimed to be?

If you are tempted by its claims then I would suggest that you continue reading. Our review will reveal the truth behind the hype.

Claimed benefits of Atheno Skin

To be fair, Atheno Skin does not make many outlandish claims. However those it does make are designed to entice you into signing up for the offer as quickly as possible.

The claims include:

  • May help enhance moisturisation
  • May help support the skin

To check the accuracy of these claims I would recommend that your next step is to look at the ingredients that have been used.

Ingredients found in Atheno Skin

Atheno Skin lists the following ingredients as being present:

Purified Water, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Ceteareth 20, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Ceramide3, Ceramide6II, Ceramide1,Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopherol Acetate, Sodium Benzoate, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA Polysorbate 20, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Retinol Palmitate (Vitamin A Palmitate), Lactamide MEA, Rosemary Extract, Balm Mint Extract

You will see many of these ingredients being used in other anti-ageing products so I can certainly see some benefit to using this product.

True cost of the Atheno Skin trial

This is not a free trial, and the actual price may shock you.

While the initial cost is low at just $4.95, this only covers a 14 day period.

Once this trial period has ended you will be charged the full purchase price of $89.95, while also being placed onto an auto-ship program.

This means that further monthly deliveries and charges will be sent to you.

These will continue until you contact Atheno Skin to cancel.

Is the Atheno Skin trial offer a scam?

Would we recommend this trial offer? Unfortunately not, and that is due to one reason alone.

While there is likely some benefit to using this product, the fact remains that this product is very expensive. Especially when compared with similar products.

I would recommend that you look for an alternative.

  1. This company – Atheno – is a scam. When I was suddenly being charged repeatedly for an item that I did not purchase, I was provided no assistance in resolving the matter. I was actually told that other callers were of more importance. Beware!

  2. Beware! When you call to cancel, they don’t process the cancellation, then when you call them back because it wasn’t cancelled, they say there is no record of a call to cancel. Get the name of the rep you talk to and ask for a cancellation code. Or better yet, don’t fall for their scam in the first place like I did.

  3. This happened to me. I thought I was just getting a free sample plus shipping and started getting the products. When I called to say I didn’t sign up for anything, they said since I didn’t call back and cancel, I would be receiving this product. Now I’ve been charged almost $200 for products I won’t be using! DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. If they included this info on the website it must have been so small because I sure didn’t see it.

  4. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE… Broke my face out, called and canceled cont. to deliver now will not take the product back and I am out of over 300.00. Said I never canceled had to contact our CC company to get it canceled. Told us to enjoy, that it was ours. Sad excuse for a business!

  5. See Binnie on December 11, 2017. The same thing happened to me. When I called, I was told that the 30 day supply was supposed to last me until Dec. 5th. BUT, I was supposed to call back by Dec 1st to cancel. When I called to inquire about the $89.95 charge on my credit card and said I did not remember seeing anything about calling to cancel within 30 days, I was told to check the website (www.athenoskin.com) and I would see the instructions about calling to cancel. However, after accessing the website, I could not see anything about that. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SHAMELESS SCAM. I could see no difference in my skin from my normal skin care.

  6. I too thought i was requesting a “free sample” until i looked at the reviews of this product and saw that my order would now be reoccurring. This is not what i signed up for and have called to cancel. Per person I spoke to (Ivan) told me i would need to send back my FREE sample which will cost me an additional shipping fee of $10. Or wait until the free trail time is almost over and call and cancel again. In the meantime i called my credit card company to block them from taking any payment and my card company is unable to block charges. I would highly recommend to NOT order your FREE sample from this scam of a company. I will update on how my cancellation goes in Feb.

  7. The company did the same to me. No refund, wanted to argue the 14 day trial. No service. Already hit me for $160 .I would like to sue the gready selfish cheaters out of their paychecks and see how they like it!

  8. Boy how I wished I had checked this site before ordering. Same scenario. Even if I had read about the $89 it makes no sense for the trial to end before the 30 days it might take to see results ( that’s what they told me). Does anyone know how we can stop these crooks?

  14. I too fell for this scam! I am embarrassed to admit it. I received a second package after the promotional just pay shipping to find out each is over $90! ARE YOU KIDDING?? When I called the girl just kept reading off her “script” and repeating her lines over and over. Infuriating! I told her to cancel any future unwanted items and refund the one I just got and I was returning the box. Well suspiciously enough THERE ARE NO REFUNDS! So no matter what THEY get you for over $200. She kept talking about the website and the policies – what garbage this is not a miracle cream it’s crap like everything else out there. I did get my cancellation email but no email receipt for what was sent so we don’t know how much they charge unless you go back to the original mumbo jumbo advertising. NEVER AGAIN

  15. I did the trial offer, 2 different people contacted me for my c/c info. I said I’m not giving it, cancel my order. Nothing said about 14 days to cancell. I called to say I was returning the product, I was told couldn’t return. I said I cancelled the order, and how did you get my c/c number. She gave me a website to go to, but can’t find it on here anywhere to make a complaint. This is a SCAM, all the way around. It’s a shame. Hard working people getting taken like this. Such a rip off. PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR THIS SCAM AND OTHERS…..

  17. SCAM!! While I didn’t take an exact screenshot. I recall very clearly that, for a trial/sample lotion, you SIMPLY have to pay to ship. Which I did. Meanwhile, I see that I was charged $86 for one bottle and $89 for another bottle. Are you kidding me? The lady said it was a trial and after 14 days they automatically charged me since I didn’t cancel something I DIDN’T sign up for? This is a bullshit scam, whether it is in the tiny itty bitty print they ask you to check before buying. This was very misleading. Even if it worked miracles I would not buy from this company again. I am angry. I never post bad reviews. I always check to make sure I’m NOT signing up for anything when purchasing or trying something new.

WHEN I TRIED TO CALL, IT TOOK ME 2 DAYS TO GET THROUGH TO SOMEONE “DUE TO HIGH VOLUME”. I CAN BELIEVE THAT…..EVERYONE IS GETTING SCAMMED AND COMPLAINING! THE TOTAL JERK THAT FINALLY RESPONDED WAS SO FREAKING RUDE IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE, AND THEN ACTUALLY OFFERED TO SEND ME ANOTHER FREE TRIAL! REALLY!!!!!!!!!! THEIR WEBSITE SHOULD BE TAKEN DOWN. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR “FREE TRIAL”

  19. BIG SCAM!!!! Most of everything said in previously posted remarks has happened to me as well. DO NOT ORDER ANY OF THE ATHENO PRODUCTS!!!! Supposedly I will be given a refund of some of the money (we’ll see), & was told that I didn’t call back in time, etc, etc. When asked why I didn’t receive a TRIAL size offer but rather a full size quantity & was charged approximately $170.00 for that initial trial offer, the only answer I could get was that I must have misread. I know I wouldn’t have signed up for any trial offer that would have cost me that much money & then end up getting another supply (while I was out of town for medical) that they charged me for which was even more ($187.00). UNBELIEVABLE!!! When I finally asked for a supervisor, I was given over to a rather smart-a… man who kept talking while I was talking & kept making remarks back at me that were not relevant to what I was talking about. Besides I had already talked to a rep who told me all the same stuff. ATHENO, in my estimation, is NOT a reputable company. Do not allow them to take advantage of you!!!! We’ll see if this so-called 3rd party handler is going to follow through with crediting my charge card for the 2nd order and a 50% credit for the 1st order. I have my doubts. We shall see. Take care & don’t order their product!!!

  20. I fell for this scam hook-line and sinker and didn’t even know it! I finally made the call, but not until I was charged a second time. I then called and after some very strong persuasion they cancelled my order…however they would not return my money. I am considering calling my lawyer…what a scam! Don’t be fooled…save your money! Over the counter products are just as good…in fact I see no benefit from them.

They refused to take the charges off and said I sign a agreement and I never did.. I spoke to 2 different people and asked to speak at a manger and they said no., they were in a meeting…. 22. For future reference, I went immediately to my bank as soon as I saw it on my bank account asked them not to pay.. they filed a fraud complaint and the money will be back into my account with in 24 hours… Luckily I did it with my debit card..(easier to replace) which the bank is doing. They said it was a good thing I went right in as it was charged today.. So get in touch with your bank to get your money back.. Lesson learned!!

  23. I ordered the Atheno Skin care and eye care off Groupon back in February and it was only 4.95 and 5.95 somewhere around there. It was a pretty good deal to try it for. I read the reviews and read what it did. So I received the order about a week later, I didn’t really notice a difference and the eye care only last a week and a half but what do u expect when u pay a price like that? However, what I did not expect was to be billed a month and a half later on March 15 2018 for 89.95$. I called them on March 26 2018 to get it taken off and was helped by a jerk named Dillon. He told me it was in the terms on the actual website which I told him I didn’t go through the website I went through Groupon and of those are the terms then it needs to be stated on there. He said he refused to give me a refund. I asked to speak to a manager he told me he was not going to give me a manager. All he wanted to talk about was the actual website and again told him the website didn’t matter in this because I didn’t go through the actual website. Refused to give me a manager again. By this point I am angry and cussing because they just took 90$ without my authorization and refuse to even attempt to help. So I told him I would go to the better business bureau and he told me chuckling that I would be denied. I again asked for the manager but was refused again. I told him I would call my cc co and dispute it then hung up. He persisted to call me back 3 times after that when I told him the first time either give me a manager or do not call me back he still called back. DO NOT ORDER this product even if I knew it was 90$ that is an outrageous price for the eye cream to last 1 1/2 weeks. I did report them to the BBB like I said I would and I did dispute with my cc co. When a customer asks for a manager you give them the manager, you do not refuse them. That’s not customer service and Dillon should be reprimanded.

  26. I feel a little better after reading how many other people did not see the terms. I looked for terms so as not to go thru this! When I called today they said I clicked on terms & I know I did not because I was looking for the hook & was not going to get the “FREE” trial if there were terms. When it arrived with no disclosure in pkg. about 14 day trial I felt reassured. I tried the cream & did not see a differance. My face did break out & that is unusual for me but since I had been on some new medication I didn’t think it was the cream. I quit using the creme & the rash on my face went away & now after reading on here about others breaking out I question if it was the creme. When I received a new shipment….once again with no billing info….I called & got the same run around. So very sad…..very overpriced & underhanded company!!!

  28. Total scam. They send you the product one week before the trial is up then proceed to send you more. They say they sent it on the 14th and that I received it on the 18th and that the trial period was up on the 28th. SCAM! I was charged $400 total for 4 small bottles in all and when I emailed them to stop – Oh no- you have to call. So that did not count. Bad product. Bad company – should be sued!

  29. Wow, what a load of crap this company is! The SAME thing happened to me today as others above stated…I received a shipment in the mail with the 2 products from my so-called trial, which I did not order but like the others above, it was sent out automatically and I have been charged for it on my card. Reached out to the company just now and the representative, of course, mentioned that I signed the terms & conditions so “unfortunately, the sale is final” and I cannot have a refund. She supposedly cancelled my account but we shall see. I am pissed beyond belief. Okay, so yes, I guess I did agree to the terms, however, any honest business would give its consumers an email heads up prior to the end of the trial saying that if you want to cancel your trial, just click here or something to that effect. I have no access to an online account to even do so and the only way is to call them, which I don’t even know what they would say if I had tried to cancel. They would probably come up with some excuse as to why it was too late to cancel.

  30. Here’s an update: I contacted my credit card company and they are putting forth a dispute of the 4 charges for March and April. And they are going to stop payment on any future charges made by this company (listed on my credit card statement as: “DHN*BeautifulEye” and “DHN*BeautifulSkin”) I checked my credit card and while my “trial” was charged to my account on 2/24/18 for two products, $4.95 and $5.95 (which I knowingly authorized), they also charged me not only on 3/9 for $86.95 and $89.95 but on 4/8/18 as well $92.90 and $94.52. Two different prices from one month to the next for the same two products!

  31. When I called to request that I NOT receive any further shipments, within the 14 day period, and because I did not think it was worth the money, the kid on the phone claimed that I was refusing to participate in the trial survey and that I had to return the unused product, pay for the shipping AND pay a 9.99 processing fee. There was literally one pump left.
I told him I was going to look back over the “agreement”, and almost immediately they tried to charge my card the $89.
